Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the phytochemical, antioxidant property of polyherbal extracts (Leaves of Vernonia amygdalina, Ocimum tenuiflorum, and Murraya koenigii) and identification, characterization of phytoconstituents present in the extract by attenuated total reflectance (ATR) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. Materials and Methods: Crude drug was processed and extracted with different solvent as per their polarity index. Qualitative and quantitative screening of phytochemical present in polyherbal extracts has been done as per the guidelines led by the World Health Organization. Total phenolic and total flavonoid content was done for the assessment of the antioxidant property of extracts. The antioxidant activity of extracts was evaluated by 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl assay and H2O2 free radical scavenging activity. The phytochemicals present in the polyherbal extract were identified and characterized by ATR and GC-MS. Results: The GC-MS analysis of the hydromethanolic extract of polyherbal formulation revealed the presence of many bioactive compounds with valuable biological activities. The ATR analysis indicated the presence of alcohol, alkane, alkene, alkyl halide, alkyne, amine, aromatic, carbonyl, ether, acid, aldehyde, anhydride, and ester. Conclusion: The phytochemical profile of the polyherbal leaf extract indicates the presence of various bioactive compounds which can be utilized further for medicinal purposes.Downloads
