Abstract

Paracetamol, Diclofenac, Aceclofenac, Nimesulide, Ibuprofen and Rofecoxib belonging to the class of non-steroidal anti-infl ammatory
drugs (NSAID’s) were tested for inhibitory role on nitrite-induced oxidation of hemoglobin in vitro. Result indicates a promising
inhibitory role of aceclofenac and signifi cant inhibitory role of ibuprofen in a concentration range of 0.25 mM each. Pro-oxidant activity was higher for remaining test compounds viz., Diclofenac, Paracetamol, Rofecoxib and Nimesulide.
