Abstract

India produces and consumes a large variety of herbs,
several of which are exclusive because of her tradition.
Unfortunately, its Green Pharmacy Community,
which is single-mindedly spending days and nights
on extraction-isolation-activity research, is not paying
enough attention towards the development of post
harvesting technology. Some data reveal that up to 40
percent of this country’s herb produce gets converted
into garbage (or garbage-like medicines), because of
poor regulation, improper/inadequate drying, sorting,
and storage and transportation arrangements. Farmers
and Green Pharmacy researchers are two islands with
no connectivity.
